On 31 May, Little Bodhi students participated in a few activities to mark Vesak Day. Vesak Day celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha. Throughout the first week of the June holidays, different activities were conducted to expose the students on the practices that were carried out on Vesak Day.
One of the highlights for the students was the Bathing of the Buddha Statue. This ceremonial practice involves pouring water gently over a statue of the infant Buddha, which represents a symbolic act of purification.
The students also learned pointilism technique in art to draw a lotus flower, a flower that is synonymous to Vesak Day celebrations. More lotus flowers sprung in Little Bodhi as the students had origami session with their teachers.
